Description

This soft cot bumper creates a wonderfully cosy sleeping environment for your little one. It prevents getting hurt or waking up when bumping against the bars. Perfect for little ones who love to toss and turn!

The cot bumpers from Cocoon Company are made of organic cotton and filled with organic kapok. You can secure the cot bumper with the attached strings. The cot bumper is soft but also firm, so that it stays in place.

SIZING ADVICE

This bed bumper is suitable for a cot sized 60 x 120 cm. Bed bumpers are usually used as head protection; one bed bumper covers half of the cot (the headboard and the sides up to about the middle of the bed). If you would like to have the entire cot covered (which we personally recommend for extra coziness!), then you should use two bumpers.

ABOUT KAPOK

Did you know kapok has many similar properties to wool? Kapok regulates temperature perfectly and is also a moisture-wicking fiber! It is a soft, natural fiber that comes from the seeds of the wild kapok tree. The kapok fiber contains 80% air and is therefore the lightest vegetable fiber that exists (about 8 times lighter than cotton). All items made of kapok are therefore lightweight and wonderfully airy. The kapok fiber has a thin layer of wax around it that ensures it doesn't absorb any moisture. This means that kapok never feels wet, even if you sweat a lot, for example. The kapok fiber is naturally bitter, which makes it antibacterial and resistant to dust mites. This is also the reason why kapok can be grown free of pesticides. Fun fact: if you choose a kapok product, you also invest in the preservation of the rainforest and support the local population that lives there!

KAPOK WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Washing kapok is very easy. You just need to know how!

First of all, it is good to know that kapok is antibacterial and resistant to dust mites. This ensures that kapok doesn't get dirty quickly. We therefore recommend that you air kapok items outside and clean small stains locally (with ox gall soap, for example). There's no need to wash kapok items before the first use. Cocoon Compagny works with pure kapok that has not been dyed or treated with chemicals.

Still need a wash? Then wash your kapok item in the washing machine at 40 to 60ºC (depending on how dirty the item is). Choose the shortest washing programme (not a combination wash/dry programme) and the highest amount of rpm's. Use natural detergent, without enzymes and bleaching products (also no fabric softener). Don't wash any other items together with your kapok item. Please note: it is important that kapok doesn't remain wet for too long, you should certainly not let it soak. This could cause the kapok fibres to stick together and the filling to become lumpy. It also prevents kapok from transferring a light stain to the ticking (which is not harmful, but may be less attractive to look at). Is the washing programme finished? Remove the item from the washing machine immediately. If it still feels very wet, let it spin dry once more.

After washing, kapok should be dried immediately in the dryer (without any other items). Make sure that the spin speed is at its highest to spin as much water out of the fibres as possible (1400 rpm). Drying kapok takes a little longer than average. It is best to select a drying programme of 30 minutes and repeat this in case the item still feels damp. To shorten the drying time, woolen dryer balls can be used in the dryer. This also makes the filling nice and airy again (please note; tennis balls are too hard!).
