Cot bumper kapok - dusted brown

The cot bumpers from Cocoon Company are made of organic cotton and filled with organic kapok. You can secure the cot bumper with the attached strings. The cot bumper is soft but also firm, so that it stays in place.

SIZING ADVICE

The cot bumpers from Cocoon Company are available in two lengths: 180cm and 210cm. The width of both bed bumpers is 28cm. 

Crib and cot: 28 x 180cm
Toddler bed: 28 x 210cm

The bed bumpers are mostly used as a head protector. In that case the cot bumper covers half of the bed (the headboard and the sides to the middle of the bed). For a cot (60 x 120cm) please choose the cot bumper in size 28 x 180cm, for a toddler bed (70 x 140cm) choose 28 x 210cm. But... personally I love how cosy it looks when you cover all bars! In this case, you look at the size of the bed and you choose the biggest fitting cot bumper. If you like to cover all sides of the bed, please use two bumpers. 

The bed bumpers are also suitable for newborns who can use some protection. For a co-sleeper (50 x 80cm) you choose the smallest size of the cot bumper 28 x 180cm. This covers all bars. Do you have a crib? The smallest size will always fit, but if you would like to cover as many bars as possible, please measure the crib!  

ABOUT KAPOK

Did you know that kapok shares many similarities with wool? Kapok regulates the temperature perfectly and it is also a fibre that is moisture wicking! About kapok: kapok is a soft natural fibre that comes from the seeds of the wild kapok tree. The kapok fibre contains 80% air and it is the lightest fibre there is (kapok is 8 times lighter than cotton). So all kapok items are wonderfully light. The kapok fibre is wrapped in a thin wax layer that makes sure that kapok does not absorb moisture. Because of this, kapok never feels wet... even when you sweat a lot for example (kapot is ideal for duvets). The kapok fibre is naturally bitter which makes it anti bacterial and dust mites resistent. Kapok can grow pesticides free. Nice to know: if you choose for a kapok product, you invest in the preservation of the rain forest and you support the local population.  

KAPOK WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Washing kapok is very easy. You only need to know how! 

First of all, it is good to know that kapok is anti bacterial and dust mites resistent. This makes Allereerst is het goed om te weten dat kapok antibacterieel is en resistent tegen huismijt. Dit zorgt ervoor dat kapok niet snel vies wordt. We raden dan ook aan om artikelen van kapok buiten te laten luchten en kleine vlekken plaatselijk schoon te maken (met bijvoorbeeld ossengalzeep). Ook hoef je artikelen van kapok niet voor het eerste gebruik te wassen. Cocoon Compagny werkt met pure kapok die niet geverfd is of behandeld met chemicaliën.

Wel een wasbeurt nodig? Was dan de kapok gevulde artikelen in de wasmachine op 40ºC-60ºC graden (afhankelijk van hoe vies het artikel is geworden). Kies het kortste wasprogramma (geen combinatie was- en droogprogramma) en het hoogst aantal toeren. Gebruik natuurlijk wasmiddel, zonder enzymes en bleekproducten (ook geen wasverwachter). Was géén andere artikelen mee. Let op: het is belangrijk dat kapok niet te lang nat blijft, laat het zeker niet weken. Hierdoor kunnen de kapok vezels aan elkaar gaan plakken en wordt de vulling klonterig. Ook voorkom je hiermee dat kapok een lichte kleur afgeeft op het tijk (wat overigens niet schadelijk is, maar misschien minder mooi om te zien). Is de het wasprogramma klaar? Haal kapok artikelen er dan dus direct uit. Voelt het kapok artikel nog erg nat? Laat de wasmachine dan nog een extra keer centrifugeren/afpompen.

Na het wassen dient kapok direct in de droger gedroogd te worden (zonder andere artikelen). Zorg ervoor dat het toerental op zijn hoogst staat om zoveel mogelijk water uit de vezels te spinnen (1400 rondes per minuut). Kapok drogen duurt wat langer dan gemiddeld. Het beste selecteer je een droogprogramma van 30 minuten en herhaal je dit wanneer het items nog vochtig is. Om de droog tijd te verkorten kunnen wollen droog ballen gebruiken in de droogmachine, dit maakt de vulling tevens weer lekker luchtig (let op tennisballen zijn te hard). Tekst: © 2022 Ziloen.
